Priscilla Gibson (NPA #8655) of AltGen recently placed an NPAworldwide Job Board candidate that she found by searching the NPAMarketplace database. The candidate had come to the NPA Job Board in July, after spotting a member's job that NPAworldwide cross-posted to LinkedIn. While he wasn't placed in that member's role, he registered on NPA's job board and was therefore searchable by other NPA members. In October, Priscilla found him and placed him in an Interim CEO role in London for a $100,000 salary.
Priscilla explains how the placement came about: "A contact whom I was trying to get on board as a client, asked in passing if I would be able to assist them find an Interim CEO. They were skeptical that such people existed, as they were not sure anyone would take up the challenge to tackle a short turnaround project of the nature this company required. Due to the contingency risk, I didn’t want to spend too much time sourcing someone (especially seeing as I did not have anyone suitable in my immediate network or pool of candidates) so I popped onto the NPAMarketplace and did a quick search. I found two suitable candidates – one candidate loaded by one of the recruitment partners, and another who had loaded himself onto NPA. The client interviewed both and settled for the direct applicant. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of senior candidates I found, and exceptionally happy that I was able to supply the right candidate to the client without doing any significant sourcing. Money and time well spent!"
One of the benefits that comes with your NPA membership is the job board - your jobs get advertised publicly and cross-posted to other job boards at no additional cost to you, and you have the benefit of a larger pool of candidates with job board candidates coming directly from these sources. You may find a gem amongst these candidates!
Another important lesson in this story is that members DO search Marketplace for suitable candidates! If you aren't posting your candidates, you have no visibility! We always say, you may not place a specific candidate that you upload to Marketplace, but you do get calls because of them!
