This is truly a great time to be part of the NPAworldwide network—there’s a strong spirit of collaboration right now, with members actively helping each other fill roles and sharing other business opportunities. Beyond just making placements, being part of the network allows you to build lasting, trusted relationships that can open doors to future business and partnerships around the globe.

The connections you make today can lead to new opportunities tomorrow, both in terms of revenue and professional growth. Keep marketing yourself and your business by joining calls, posting records and getting yourself out there.

We have an engagement team that is happy to support you in any way we can, whether that’s introducing you to new partners, helping you navigate opportunities, or the NPA Systems.

Here are some ideas:

  1. Think “outside the box.” A slow time is the best time to re-evaluate your offerings and add more value to your customers with things like contract staffing or filling roles out of your norm. Once the economy heats up, they will continue your relationship. Are you offering the right products and services?  Are you a “one stop shop” service provider?  Prove it!!
  2. Stay positive. The worst thing that you can do during a time of economic downturn is to be a pessimist. It’s important not to portray “doom and gloom.” Focus on the right things with your business and producing at the highest level possible.  Most importantly, smile; it shows on your face and in your voice. Remember, it is not only survival of the fittest; it is survival of the companies most capable of adapting to the shifting marketplace. Show others you have what it takes to make it through the tough times.
  3. Listen. Your existing clients are more likely to spend money with you rather than new recruiting agency because you have already earned their trust. Send them a note to let them know you are there for them. You don’t have to always call for new business; do a check-in and let them know you are still there.
  4. Be a global solution. Make sure your clients know you have partners worldwide ready and willing to help if they have business in other countries.
  5. Pivot during a recession. When we look at the recruiting industry’s history, recession has always helped the strong survive and weed out some of the competition.

What you do now will determine whether your firm will be a survivor or a statistic.
