Our jobs as recruiters are full of ups and downs- the term "champagne and razor blades" sums it up pretty accurately.

We have all endured the late night phone call when the candidate who is due to start the next day pulls out, the email from the client saying they are going with an internal candidate after all or after seven interviews the candidate decides to stay put. You hear me, right?

As a baby recruiter (back in the last millennium), my manager told me always to celebrate the wins. To this day, I have heeded her sage advice. After every placement, I celebrate. I don't ring a bell or pop the champagne corks BUT I do mark each placement. Maybe that is as simple as going out for a walk, buying myself a little gift (like a new pen or tech gadget) or even taking time to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee reading a newspaper and not thinking about placements.

If you are like me, we spend time way too much time wallowing over missed opportunities (if only...), so when the opportunities do pay off - make sure you give yourself the recognition you deserve and take some time for yourself. After all, we do get paid rather handsomely for each placement.

Celebrate the wins.

Speaking of celebrating, I just wanted to reach out and congratulate two key members of our NPAworldwide family. To our wonderful Sarah Freiburger and her husband Chris who became parents with the arrival of Baby Blair (what a cutie).

And a huge congratulations to Kelsea Bischoff (now Dodd) on her recent marriage to Scot. We wish them many years of joy and happiness.
