One of the benefits of NPAworldwide membership is the ability to promote an international capability to your clients, serve your clients outside of their home markets, maximize your firm’s business opportunity by spending your time where the jobs are, and avoiding down economic situations in your home market. NPAworldwide defines “cross-border” splits as deals where the partners are operating in different countries. Here is a story about members that completed a cross-border split.

Madeleine Quinn (NPA #6067) of 3P Partners in Davis, CA, USA and Gracelyn Generale (NPA #8554) of Avisant Search in London, England, U.K., shared a cross-border placement. Madeleine placed Gracelyn's candidate, an Accounting Clerk in the Food & Beverage Products & Services Industry in the USA. Madeleine was leading the search for a newly created Accounting Clerk position for her food manufacturer client to support their continued growth.

Gracelyn explains how the deal came about: "I first met Madeleine last May 2021 when she posted many jobs in NPA for Accounting/Finance roles in CA. I was a new member in NPA back then and I was excited to support Madeleine as I felt I could assist her given that I had supported a few Manufacturing clients (mostly in CA) in my previous job. Fast-forward to September, I remember sending a few candidates to Madeleine for managerial roles but she let me know that they were in the final stages already. I immediately asked her what other jobs that I can help her with, she forwarded 2 roles (QA Tech & Accounting Clerk) and provided me with all the important details. Luckily, my endorsed candidates passed through and one got the offer. I was super happy when I heard the news from Madeleine! Thank you Madeleine for being responsive!

Madeleine said: "Gracelyn was proactive in staying connected with me and presented a number of candidates for other searches I’ve been working on. Within 2 weeks of posting this role, Gracelyn presented two local candidates and the search was successfully completed within one month. Gracelyn’s approach is extremely detailed and her responsiveness aided in the speed and quality of the placement made."

Gracelyn added: "I just wanted to highlight that in recruiting we need to be persistent and passionate, look for quality, have the proper communication, find the right approach & timing, be proactive, stay professional & positive all the time. There will be lots of rejections along the way but when the efforts and opportunities pay off, we'll celebrate the wins big time! I'd like to thank my Avisant team for the support & to NPA network for this awesome opportunity!"

This just goes to show that your local client's perfect candidate may come from your NPA partner halfway across the world. Don't hesitate to reach out if you think you can help your international partners!
