One of the benefits of NPAworldwide membership is the ability to promote an international capability to your clients, serve your clients outside of their home markets, maximize your firm’s business opportunity by spending your time where the jobs are, and avoiding down economic situations in your home market. NPAworldwide defines “cross-border” splits as deals where the partners are operating in different countries. Here is a story about members that completed a cross-border split.

Jenn Anderson (NPA #2071) of Prestige Recruiting Firm, LLC in Largo, FL, USA, and Alvin Shin (NPA #8230) of Connect Resources Global Consulting Ltd in Hong Kong, have recently shared a cross-border placement. Jenn placed Alvin's candidate, an International Sales Director in Singapore.

Jenn explains how the deal came about: "When I received an International role, I immediately thought of Alvin as I got to know him better this past year at the Global Conference in Atlanta!  Alvin knows the Asian culture and economics therefore I was comfortable having him on the intake call with my client to learn their needs. Alvin dug into the search and found some great candidates, including the one we placed. He worked all hours of the day because of the time zone difference, which I really appreciated and valued.   If I have another position in that area of the world, I will be contacting Alvin again! It was a great partnership."

Alvin added: "It is always a pleasure to see Jenn at the Global Conference and this time she said she may need my help for a role in Asia. I was all ears. Jenn said that her client is in the medical and healthcare field and I said I have worked and done splits with US and Australian partners for the industry in the past. In actuality, about 90% of all my NPA missions have been cross border split placements. I have worked with International partners for jobs in China, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, Russia, Germany, Spain and more, and with yet more diverse candidates.

"I jumped at the opportunity to work with Jenn. I submitted to Jenn initially  a long list of 9 candidates that are located in Kuala Lumpur. Singapore, Hong Kong, New York and Shanghai. Jenn, as with my of the NPA partners that I have worked with, was very trusting. She looped me into her Zoom meetings with her clients and actually asked me to share my experience in the region and copied me on all the emails. It was very helpful as it let me have a first hand knowledge of what was the exact needs of her client so that I can supply the candidates that can rapidly fulfill that requirements."

"It wasn’t easy but all involved parties worked exceedingly hard and we managed to narrow down to  one candidate that seemed to instantly clicked with the client. Jenn mentioned that I worked all hours and in fact I do per my global placement requirements. It’s all in a day’s or night’s work.

"It was indeed a pleasure to work with Jenn and if there is any opportunity to work with Jenn again, I would jump at any chance."

Great work, Jenn & Alvin! International split placements are within your reach, as you can see by Alvin and Jenn's teamwork!
