Dear Nicky,

My business has been tied closely to the oil and gas sector for a long time. As you can imagine, with oil prices so low I started to feel the hurt, then COVID-19 happened and things went from bad to worse. I hear from others that you can “re-invent” yourself with NPAworldwide; you can go after more business, new business, international business, or even work with others on their jobs. Can you tell me where to start?

Branching Out in Branch County

Dear Branch,

I would start by getting on some of the Practice Group and Specialty Group calls tosee what others are working on and what advice they have. All the calls are listed on the calendar.

There is also a lot of marketing info you can use to leverage your membership with your clients. Ask them for jobs you don't normally work on, whether they are outside your niche or your geography. You might find out some of your clients have international divisions you didn't know about. Send them to our employer site to learn more about why it's smart to work with NPAworldwide recruiters. Starting with your existing clients is a great way to toe-dip into something new.

Remember to ask your NPAworldwide partners for help. There is a wealth of information out there. Members can and will share on the ins and outs they encountered - there have been other members who have developed new niches with some coaching and guidance from their NPA peers. If you don’t know who to contact, create a post in the Open Forum asking for feedback. Members are very willing to help other members, so don’t be afraid to ask.

Nicky
