I must admit I did not have a great Q1. For the first time in years, I got caught on the wrong side of M&A activity in the FinTech/Financial Product Software space. For me the new year came with the loss of three long time clients. In addition, a great new client from 2022 put everything on hold.... On the legal search side of my business, Big Law went in the direction of Big Tech and slowed down hiring. However, with NPAworldwide members and with the NPAworldwide brand behind me, all is now moving in the right direction.

Looking back, one reason I joined NPAworldwide a little over ten years ago was to diversify my business so I could make pivots in soft markets. In doing so, I have stayed informed about what roles members are working on, what they need help on, and what they are capable of working on. I still start my day looking at the NPAmarketplace postings. I call it my NPA Morning Traffic. In my case, I want to see all roles in the NYC metro region. Secondly, nationally and internationally, I want to see what is going on in my core and secondary industry business sectors. And of course, I get on as many NPA Practice Group and training calls as possible. It is amazing what you can find in NPAworldwide by being proactive.

With NPAworldwide, I consider myself a senior level recruitment generalist, able to cover a broad marketplace. I now do much more than FinTech sales. Three years ago as a hedge, I expanded my legal search business and also began to take on more searches outside of my prior "comfort zone." Along the way, great NPAworldwide partners like Pat Sisti and his team at PFP, the one and only Laura LaBine and her team, my good friend Tim Lane in the UK and Pam Inglis of Rostie & Associates in Toronto got the job done.

Today, my client acquisition and client expansion initiatives are centered around the NPAworldwide story and value proposition. Simply speaking, I use NPAworldwide as the tip of my client acquisition spear- I lead with NPAworldwide. I am not suggesting this strategy will work for everyone, yet I am sure all readers will agree, for many HR executives and clients bigger is better. Therein is the Essence of NPA; it enables you to maintain your own identity as an operator while being part of something much bigger.

Always happy to chat further about how I market NPAworldwide, balance and hedge my cash flow.

Happy Hunting
