I sent a job directly to another member and did not post it to NPAmarketplace. Am I correct in thinking that brokerage would NOT be due if a placement occurs from this, since I didn't use the system?

You are NOT correct. Brokerage is definitely owed, as this would be a split placement. We define a split placement as a placement that occurs when two members exchange information either directly or indirectly, regarding a candidate or a position, which causes the hire of a candidate by a company or the payment of a fee to a member. The method by which that information exchange occurs is not a factor in determining whether or not a placement is a split.
