Chris McAvoy (NPA #1420) of McAvoy Consulting in Saint James, NY, USA, has made the firm’s first NPA split placement. Chris placed a Sr. Electrical Engineer in the Medical Devices Industry provided by Marilyn Sander (NPA #5061) of Proaction Careers in Houston, TX, USA.
Chris explains how the deal came about: "I had been working on a Sr EE position for a medical device client in Houston. I even had a candidate receive an offer but took a higher paying position in California so it was back to the starting line. Two individuals, Marcia Bateman and Phil Chappel both suggested that I reach out to Marilyn Sander to share the position details since she handles technology/engineering and was located in the Houston area. That turned out to be a positive suggestion. Marilyn started supplying qualified EE's with very detailed notes. Since I was working directly with the hiring manager I was able to get very quick feedback and we were able to get candidates interviewed quickly afterwards. As every NPA member has experienced, we thought we had the position filled but once again the candidate took another Houston-based position. Marilyn continued to source and supply candidates. She was able to find even a better qualified EE in the Houston area and this time the candidate accepted to the delight of the client. The two turn-downs were disappointing but served as an educational market point for the hiring manager since he lifted the salary to land the last candidate by 10k.  I look forward to working with Marilyn on future roles."

Marilyn added: "It is a pleasure to work with Chris. I was introduced by email to Chris by Phil Chappel. Chris did reach out and we scheduled a meeting and talked about this position. Started working on this SR EE position after that conversation. Thanks to Marcia too."

Great work, Marilyn and Chris! Way to turn a frustrating situation around into a positive one!
