Molly Berenhaus (NPA #6017) has made her first split placement since joining the staff of LaBine & Associates in San Mateo, CA, USA. Molly provided an Attorney in the Legal Industry to Jim Lyons (NPA #1027) of LHI Executive Search, LLC in New York, NY, USA.
Molly explains how the deal came about: "First off, it was an honor to get to collaborate with such a well-respected and senior recruiter like Jim Lyons. I was introduced to Jim by my mentor Laura LaBine. In the early months of my work with Laura, I was focused on research for legal placements and reaching out to build relationships with attorneys. Jim invited me to help screen and qualify candidates for his client, a plaintiff-side, personal injury law firm in Florida."
"Through LinkedIn, I reached out to our winning candidate, Robbie, whom Jim had suggested I screen," Molly said. "In our meeting, she had expressed great interest in this opportunity, but was not necessarily in the right geography for their office opening. There was a conflict in her location, and some muddiness with the next stages of candidate submittal. When I originally submitted her to the client, with Jim’s assistance, she was turned down because she didn’t live in the right part of Florida. I took this news in stride and kept searching for other candidates and then Robbie texted me out of the blue letting me know that she would be willing to relocate within Florida. Because this candidate was highly interested in this pre-litigation position, we worked closely with the client to encourage them to meet her, as she was open to relocating. Our candidate was immediately offered an interview with the managing partner, and they presented an offer of employment quickly. There was some final tuning of the salary negotiation, and Jim talked to the candidate and the client to secure a better salary. This provided confidence to the candidate so she could accept the offer."
"This was a great team effort with Jim Lyons, and set an expectation of how collaboration really works with our NPA Worldwide partners," Molly added.
So true - collaboration, clear communication, trust and transparency are the keys to success. Additionally, Molly is a regular on practice group calls and is great at posting her jobs and candidates to Marketplace. By being proactive, she is getting her name out there as a new member, which makes it easier to build these relationships with longtime, successful members like Jim! Great work to you both!
