One of the highlights of my year is the annual trip over the Pond to attend the NPAworldwide Global Conference. I love the chance to catch up with old friends, make new ones, network over meals, learn new ideas and swap jokes with Wes Chesney.

Well despite the COVID curve ball, our first virtual Global Conference was a smashing success. Other than missing Wes’ gags, we ticked all the boxes.

The Zoom networking worked well and many of us got the chance to meet a bunch of people who may not have made it to an in-person event. The content was good and even the stuff some of us old timers have heard before—it’s good to get a reminder.

The annual business meeting also ran smoothly (other than a tech glitch or two with the voting software) and we welcomed back Patti Steen as a new regional director and acknowledged Bill Benson after 10 years' selfless volunteerism and expert leadership on the Board. Jim  Lyons moved to chair-elect (so he'll automatically become chair next year), Pam Robison joins the executive committee as secretary/treasurer and  Laura LaBine was re-elected as practice group director.

It was also a chance to recognise the top achievers in our network, presented by the always-energetic Kelsea Bischoff. It was the first time I made the list so what an honour (the cheque was cool too)!

During the conference we also received the happy news that Sarah and Chris Freiburger welcomed a healthy baby girl into the world. I extend our warmest wishes to the new parents on behalf of the network.

So thanks to those who attended (especially during the wee small hours of the morning) and make sure you fill out the feedback surveys. For those that missed it- try and catch the recordings of the trainers' presentations.

Hopefully next year we will meet again in person in Texas.

Happy splitting!
