Dear Nicky,

I'm posting jobs to the NPAjobboard and getting lots of views, but no applications. Is something wrong?

Applications in Armada

Dear Armada,

First, it's always a good idea to check your spam/junk settings to make sure the application emails are actually making it to your inbox.

If you've already ruled out an email delivery issue, it's time to take a look at your actual job posting. When there are lots of views but few (or no) applications, it can mean the posting is simply not compelling or interesting to the job seeker. Here are some tips:

  • Include the salary on your posting - we're seeing that jobs without salary information get fewer applications
  • Include some specifics about the benefits package - you need to make this attractive to potential candidates
  • Thoroughly review the wording - eliminate bias or exclusionary words that can be a real turn-off to job seekers
  • Make sure the posting is about the CANDIDATE, not you or your employer
  • DO NOT USE your client's job description as your job posting - these typically include lots of legalese and will not capture a candidate's interest

With a little bit of creativity and some extra detail, I think you'll start seeing some of those views convert to applications.

Nicky
