Roman Duty is guest-writing this issue's From the Chair.

Greetings, fellow NPA Members! It’s an honor to write this month for the Vignette. As I debated on a topic to touch on with you all, I received a candidate via an NPA candidate partner that was qualified enough for me to call them instantly. When I reached the candidate and introduced myself, the candidate was confused. This person had not heard my name, vaguely remembered responding to an email from the other recruiter, couldn’t recall the job, and I spent time overcoming this candidate’s skepticism.

As someone with 10+ years of experience within NPA as both an job recruiter and a candidate recruiter, I have been a part of two big candidate-driven markets. It is important to understand that providing the candidate the right recruiter experience is critical. Not only can these candidates currently be, or potentially become, hiring managers, but in market booms many are inundated with recruiters reaching out. As we all know…not all recruiters are created equal and differentiating ourselves from the masses is important. Many candidates already have had terrible recruiter experiences and starting off on the right foot, even as an exporter, can go a long way with relationship building.

In addition, as NPA is a global network, many of us are recruiting candidates for jobs that may have a harder time communicating because of language barriers or cultural differences. This is just another reason to make sure that when an candidate recruiter introduces themselves, they do so clearly. If you are speaking to or emailing a candidate, make sure the candidate knows who the partner is, what your relationship is with the split partner (introduce/explain NPA) and what and where the role is. All of this helps to build trust with the candidate, strengthens the NPA bond between trading partners, and will hopefully lead to more split placements!

We have some good news to recognize as well.

Silvia Gray of Expert Connections joined NPA in June of 2022 and just made her first deal with Kundan Sharma from Healthcare Staffing Solution. Silvia had a bit of a slow start to her membership but has since been able to focus and start connecting with partners. Congratulations!

We are also seeing an uptick in members having success with the NPAjobboard, so please consider using this for one-off roles that aren't suitable split opportunities. Some of the members with recent placements are Kevin Weatherly, Greg Eastmer, Kirk Hansen and Ed Wallach.
