Dear Nicky,

Like many recruiters, 2020 was a pretty dismal year in my business. My clients had nothing going on. What are you hearing about 2021?

Dear Barry,

2020 was a tough year for some, but others had a great year. Take a look at who is doing deals and see if there is an opportunity to split on something that might be complementary to your business. The Money Letter is a great place to see the latest placement activity.

For example, David Kelham works the food and drink industry in the UK, mostly with pubs. When the pubs shut down due to COVID, he started expanding that knowledge to the US as there were plenty of jobs in the foods space. He did a split with Anna Nicholson from 3P Partners, and she said, "The client was looking for a candidate that was tough to find. They needed someone with the perfect cultural fit as well and they found it."

Gary Banks from Grow Advisors in Brisbane, Australia started helping Glenn Rapp from PartnerWest in the US with some jobs in Seoul, South Korea they just closed a deal with a $30k fee.

There have been many other examples like this over the past year. The gist of the message is there are jobs to work, and there are people making money. Look for jobs in a different geography or a similar niche and commit to working them. Be sure to connect with the partner first to get all the details of the job. There were 164 jobs posted in the last 30 days so there are jobs to work on. If you need help, reach out to the NPA Engagement Team for some direction.
