In my continuing mission to popularize the Essence of NPAworldwide, I was honored two weeks ago to attend a retirement lunch for Kay Durkin in Philadelphia. Kay received Honorary membership for her years of service to the network. Kay is also a past Chairman's Award winner, Board member and longtime volunteer. I would like to thank Laura Schmeider and Jeff McGraw for setting up this event. It was great to speak to Kay about her iconic NPA participation over the years.

I also asked Christine Kines of Vector Recruiting to share her recent experiences with Kay:

"It was so wonderful to celebrate Kay at her retirement party! When I joined NPAworldwide, a little over a year ago, Kay generously agreed to be my peer coach. What a difference having a peer coach made in my level of success at NPAworldwide. Kay was instrumental in helping me make connections and ensuring I had all the resources I needed.

I am especially grateful for the effort Kay made in reaching out to her extensive network and providing introductions. This made a big difference since I attended the NPA annual conference in Fort Worth, TX just a few weeks after joining. Those introductions made the conference experience special and productive.

Kay’s enthusiasm and caring about other members, combined with her extensive industry and NPA knowledge, made her an excellent peer coach. The combination of Kay’s introductions, attending calls and conferences, connecting with other members and making splits all led to me becoming the new Technology Practice Group leader. I am grateful for all Kay’s help and wish her all the best as she retires!"

The Essence of NPAworldwide in France

Recently, there was some NPAworldwide activity In France that came to pass via a split transaction from a couple of years ago. Read below from Dave Evans of Perfect Fit Placement and his recent get together with Stephane Beder of Selescope.

"I would like to share the beauty of NPAworldwide.  Back in Spring/2019 I made a split placement with Paris-based NPA Partner, Stephane Beder #8442. Stephane's French-based client, a global manufacturer of chemical and biological detection system equipment, needed a CEO for their US operations. I was fortunate to find the perfect candidate and a split placement was had!!

Fast forward...Stephane remembered we were both tennis enthusiasts and invited me to join him at the French Open this year!!  We had a great time and Stephane showed me various parts of his beloved city, Paris, through his eyes!! One of the great things about being an NPA member is cultivating friendships all over the world with amazing people like Stephane!!

NPA reigns supreme!!!"

Some NPA Golf

Lastly, in Connecticut last week we had a small but productive NPA golf outing. In attendance were Steve Silvi, Pat Sisiti, Don Preveti and yours truly. Picture is Steve and I at dinner. We had so much fun at golf, we forgot to take a picture of the foursome on the golf course. A couple of split opportunities are already in play.

Be proactive with your network

Unlike technology-centric recruitment networks, NPAworldwide is all about people and relationships. Get to know your partners, reach out (pick up the phone); the common denominator of success in NPAworldwide is being proactive not reactive.

Happy Hunting,
