The dog is barking, the kids are crying and yes, we are on a Video call.
With lots of folks working from home it happens. My advice apologize, mute yourself and move on.
Here are some other quick tips
- Don’t keep your mic on if you’re not speaking
- Don’t let yourself get distracted during the meeting-Look them in the eye/ lens
- Don’t look sloppy: Dress for your audience- OK I will change up my tee shirts a bit
- Make your background look nice, if you don’t have a good one use a virtual one
I read an article that said any video call with more than three or four people should have
- A clear structure
- A designated host
- An agenda
- Time set aside for questions and comments at the end
