At our recent EMEA meeting in Sicily, the NPAworldwide name became a point of discussion. It has been many years since I heard this concern, so it was interesting to understand the difficulties the name poses for those outside of North America. I would like to fix this for all members moving forward and I have a request of all members.
Please tell me if the proposal below would solve any issues you have with our name/brand or whether you have other options you would like NPAworldwide to consider. Again, it is not a top-of-mind issue for most network members, I get that. But if we can solve it for all easily, let’s get it done.
When a client asks, “What does the NPA in NPAworldwide mean,” your answer might be…
“We belong to NPAworldwide Recruitment Network. The NPA is a historical reference dating back to our founding in 1956. Today the NPA stands for Network of Placement Affiliates.”
For members to know, not a client topic, our legal name is National Personnel Associates Cooperative, Inc. And as we have long said, there is nothing wrong with the name except all 3 words are incorrect…
- We are not National, we are international…
- We are not Personnel, we are search and recruitment…
- We are not an Association, we are a member-owned network.
Today we do business as NPAworldwide Recruitment Network. If someone asks the meaning of the letters NPA, we should simply respond it stands for Network of Placement Affiliates…NPA. If you wish to use it in a sentence, you can say “I belong to the Network of Placement Affiliates or NPAworldwide.”
If it is a big issue for you or you have alternative ways to address this issue, let me know.
