NPAworldwide members Laura LaBine and Hugh Morris are taking a different approach to filling a role for a manufacturing client.

Last December while on a contract staffing call, Laura brought up a client requirement and asked if anyone could translate a SOW (Statement of Work) into a job description. After a 10-second delay with no one responding, Hugh said, “Sure, I majored in English literature, I should be able to write this.”

As Hugh wrote the job description, he realized it made more sense to do this as a project. The scope of tasks to be done and the expertise required for such a wide breadth of skills would be difficult to find in one person.

Hugh identified that this would be a great fit for his parent company, Arisoft Global. Arisoft Global specializes in Manufacturing ERP, MES, IoT and system integrations and has all of the experience and resources needed to service Laura’s client. Laura scheduled a discovery call with the Arisoft Global team and her client, which resulted in Arisoft providing a detailed project plan for their needs. The result? The client has selected Arisoft to start executing this ten-month project.

Most likely, there are other opportunities all over the NPAworldwide network. By understanding how to ask the right questions and how to identify if our manufacturing clients would find this valuable, there may be additional revenues for all of us to share.

We could all benefit by asking our manufacturing industry clients if they need any help integrating disparate systems.

If you see any job descriptions like the one below it may make more sense to get the job done as a project.
