Dear Nicky,

I'm fairly new to NPAworldwide and struggling with where to post my jobs. Should I be using NPAmarketplace, the NPAjobboard, or both?

Posting in Pinora

Dear Pinora,

Great question! Here are a few points to consider:

  • If you ONLY post to the NPAjobboard, your partners cannot see those jobs and are totally unable to help you.
  • We advertise NPAjobboard postings on aggregator sites and other locations, including LinkedIn. If you are already advertising in those places, this may be duplicated effort that does not yield additional candidates for you to consider.
  • Candidates that apply through the NPAjobboard are not screened or vetted against your job, and there are no knockout questions, so you have to do all of the qualifying on your own.
The NPAjobboard is a "contingent" job board - you only pay if a successful placement is made. It is a great tool to widen your search and augment other sourcing methods. It casts a VERY wide net, and you will need to spend some time looking for hidden gems. I like to think of it as the modern-day version of newspaper classified ads where it was common to get many replies, but only a handful of great possibilities. Generally, we recommend using the NPAjobboard for:
  • Roles with low salaries / low fees
  • Roles for new grads
  • Roles where you are "doing a favor" for a client
  • Roles where there are no partners working in that occupation, industry, or niche
  • Other roles that are not likely suitable for a split placement

If your jobs have good salaries, good fees, and you have a great client relationship, you are much more likely to find success with a dedicated split partner. Of course, we ALWAYS recommend a phone conversation with a partner (or potential partner) before any recruitment activity takes place. This will set expectations on both sides and greatly reduce off-target submittals, especially if you are providing quality, timely feedback.

Nicky
