On Monday, April 1st (no, this isn't an April Fool's joke!), I shot off an email to one of my clients. On the previous Saturday, my husband and I had taken a scenic drive about an hour from our home. Our route took us near one of my client's Oklahoma factories, which made me think of them and that I hadn't talked with them in a while. In my email, I mentioned I'd been near their factory over the weekend. There was no hidden agenda; I was just touching base. Missi was pleased to hear from me and said, "By the way, we need an entry-level engineer for that factory, but we can't pay more than $65K. If you happen to have anyone, please keep us in mind." Agreeably, that is a low salary for our market, but I was up for the challenge! The next morning, I received an email notification, "NPA Marketplace: New Candidates matched to your Alert - OK Cands." As Lieutenant Joe Kenda, on the hit television series "Homicide Detective," would say, I thought, "My, my, my…."
The resume was from a December 2023 mechanical engineering grad who added his resume to the NPA Job Board. He was an ideal fit for this client, so I contacted him immediately and told him about the job, the compensation, and the location, and he expressed interest. Here's how quickly this worked:
- April 2nd – Presented candidate's file to client
- April 4th – The client conducted Teams interview
- April 8th – On-site interview at the Oklahoma factory
- April 10th – Offer out, quick negotiation, then verbal acceptance
- April 11th – The signed offer letter was received, and NPA placement was reported in Marketplace!
- April 22nd – Start Date!
I'm a huge proponent of utilizing auto alerts, and this placement clearly demonstrates why. I view this as a two-fold win: one from the auto alert and the other from our NPA Job Board exposure. I like it when a good plan comes together—especially when it earns money for NPA and me!
And the icing on the cupcake: The client gave us three more "difficult" job orders for other locations, which were immediately shared with Marketplace.
