On behalf of the NPAworldwide Board of Directors and membership, it is my pleasure to announce this year's Community Award winner--long time NPA member Lori Laird, of Davidson Laird, Inc. (#3666) in Louisville, Kentucky (USA). Lori is recognized for her years-long involvement with the Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky (https://biak.us), including the annual Brain Ball fundraiser.

The Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky (BIAK), a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency, began as an outgrowth of a Lexington area support group in the early 1980s. Family members, medical staff and others felt the need to expand the services and support to reach statewide. The state office was moved to Louisville and incorporated in 1986. BIAK seeks to share its philosophy, experience and skills with survivors, family members, students, caregivers, administrators, health professionals, legislators, the lay community and all those who desire to make a difference in the life of individuals with brain injuries and their families. BIAK links survivors of brain injury and their families to support from others with similar experience; provides them with education and information about living and coping with brain injury; assists them in locating resources for financial assistance; and seeks to connect people with sources of emotional support.

Lori, NPAworldwide applauds and thanks you for your dedication and service to BIAK! The Community Service Award will be presented during the upcoming Global Conference in Philadelphia, which is another great reason to be there!

The NPAworldwide Community Service Award was started in 2019 to recognize the charitable endeavors of members around the world. The award includes a $1,000 contribution to the recipient's qualified charity.
