The common denominator of success in NPAworldwide is being proactive, not reactive. Don't sit back waiting for the phone to ring; reach out and make things happen. The essence of NPAworldwide is centered in close personal and business relationships, trust and integrity. Yes, veteran members will introduce themselves to you, but the new members must take the lead in initiating new relationships.
In today's Vignette, I have asked two relatively new members, Adam Pantelli and Phil Hurd, to briefly share their first-year success stories. I had the pleasure to speak to both Adam and Phil recently. In discussion, it was clear to me that both wanted to make sure the membership knew who they were and what they could deliver. It comes as no surprise the results that followed.
Adam Pantelli, NPA #8661, AJ Search, London, UK (5 Splits)
AJ Search joined NPA in October 2022 and from day one, it just felt right, including the onboarding and staff communication and welcoming. Before joining, as we're UK-based, I was fearful that other recruiters would not consider our candidates, but I couldn't be more wrong. We've had fantastic feedback, communication and all-round cooperation from all of the split partners on NPA that we've worked with. Feedback on resumes, interviews and general guidance throughout the hiring process. This has definitely been a huge part of why we've been able to make 5 placements since joining (with a couple more in the pipeline). Getting your name out there is also crucial to being successful, through email, calls and networking with split partners, offering assistance when needed and of course providing quality candidates.
Phil Hurd, NPA #1035 Oculus Search Partners, Lexington, MA. USA (7 Splits)
Although I've been a recruiter for 35 years, and a solo practitioner for the past 9, I was a split-placement skeptic until about 3 years ago, when I decided to join Top Echelon and see what it was all about. Fast forward, and I've been successful in that network and seen the immense value in splits, so when I was referred to NPAworldwide at the end of 2022, I decided to try it also, and I'm very glad I did. I'm strictly a candidate exporter, so my approach has been to introduce myself to other members who seem strong on the job importer side of things, talking with them, and figuring out if our work styles and methods are compatible. At this point, I have maybe a dozen members that I'd say form the core of the effort I put in, but I'm always trying to establish new relationships as well. I've exceeded my first-year goals for NPAworldwide and am very pleased with it so far. Any success I've had so far, I attribute to being willing to put myself out there and introduce myself to members, and to do the best I can to adapt the way I work to deliver what they need. I regard other members as my clients.
