What is your favorite split story?
I was working with a major credit card company on their IT jobs in NY when the HR person mentioned he needed some people with credit card industry experience for a marketing job in Toronto. Not my expertise nor my geographic area, but I said give me the job and I will use my network. Lo and behold, I filled it with the help of an NPA affiliate in short order. A classic case of the benefits of being in NPAworldwide.
How did you get into recruiting?
I graduated with a BA degree in Psychology and just hit the streets of NYC looking for a job, without much in the way of qualifications aside from motivation and some common sense and good communication skills. Got hired by a ‘body shop’ recruiting firm, quit after 2 months but landed at a much better firm where I found my way and it took off from there.
What is your #1 tip for how to work NPAworldwide?
Keep it simple! Only post jobs which you feel you have a strong handle on, that you will get feedback and response from the client, post job descriptions which are thorough but not overwhelming, provide timely feedback to your colleagues.
