Dear Nicky,

I recently came across a great candidate, but I have no jobs currently for them, so I sent them to the job board to register. He said he registered, but he is not listed under my candidates, what gives?

Dear Missing,

I would advise that you not send your candidates to the NPA Job Board. If the candidate registers on the job board, they are marked as an NPA Job Board candidate. We keep NPAmarketplace and the Job Board separate because there are jobs posted to ‘job board only’ that members aren’t open to doing a split on. So, your candidate will see jobs that you cannot see.

You can upload or invite your candidate to register in NPAmarketplace for other NPA members to find and possibly place, but these candidates do not have access to NPAmarketplace, which is a secure, confidential site only available to NPA members. Some jobs on NPAmarketplace are posted to ‘Marketplace only’ which means they are not on the job board and the recruiter doesn’t want them public.

I suggest uploading the candidate to NPAmarketplace so your NPA partners can find the candidate and then set up a Job Alert that matches what the candidate is looking for (you could title it ‘John Doe – Electrical Engineer jobs’, and that’s what the email subject line will be). That way, you will be notified when a new job is added that matches your candidate’s expertise, and you can let your candidate know about the job and you can reach out to the recruiter working it.
