Dear Nicky,
I'm a newer member and want to promote my NPAworldwide membership on LinkedIn, but I'm confused. I see people connecting to different pages and I'm not sure what the difference is. Does it matter?
Linking in Lum
Dear Lum,
Great question, thanks for writing!
We have two LinkedIn pages - our corporate page, and a separate page called NPAworldwide Member-Owners. This page is for members to use to help showcase their network affiliation.
Members are not permitted to connect to our corporate page as that inaccurately shows that you are an employee and this interferes negatively with our job advertising. If NPAworldwide is listed in the Experience portion of your LinkedIn profile, please change it immediately to NPAworldwide Member-Owners. On very rare occasions we have had to reach out to LinkedIn for assistance with this, which generally results in a user's access being suspended for some period of time and that is obviously a terrible outcome.
Here are the steps to update your LinkedIn profile to connect to NPAworldwide Member-Owners if you aren't currently connected to either page:
- Go to the Experience section of your profile
- Click the + sign to add new a new position
- In the dialog box, start typing NPAworldwide in the Company Name field and select "NPAworldwide Member-Owners" from the list
- Choose a title that references your membership, volunteer role, etc.
- Go to the Experience section of your profile
- Click the pencil icon next to NPAworldwide
- In the Company or Organization field, highlight NPAworldwide OR start typing NPAworldwide and then select NPAworldwide Member-Owners from the list
