GDPR Email Notifications from NPAmarketplace![]() You may have noticed a new email notification from NPAmarketplace beginning late last week related to members who have downloaded your candidate(s). This is an expanded feature that was previously deployed in Matchmaker to comply with GDPR. GDPR is a sweeping privacy regulation in the European Union that was implemented in 2018. Job seekers (and other individuals) in the EU have a legal right to know who has “control” or possession of their personal data, and to have that personal data deleted upon request. Anyone who works with a job seeker living in the EU must comply with the GDPR requirements. Auto-Deletion of Inactive Recruiter Accounts![]() Quick reminder to all owners and recruiters: about a year ago we began implementing some new security measures to reduce the number of inactive accounts on our sites, especially NPAmarketplace. If a recruiter fails to log in to NPAcentral for more than 180 days after their account was created, the account will be automatically deleted. This will also trigger deletions from NPAmarketplace. We have been handling this manually for quite a long time, but now have the ability to streamline this task. |

Non-Traditional Fee Splits![]() About a month ago, I received a call from a member who has been with NPAworldwide for a couple of years and in the industry for about ten years. Setting the Default Currency in NPAmarketplace![]() Did you know you can set a default currency in NPAmarketplace? The default for all users is USD, but you can customize the salary to automatically apply a different currency standard to all of your posted candidate and job records. So Australian members who typically work with Australian candidates and Australian jobs, can set the default to Australian dollars. Those in Europe can change the default to euros. |

Zooming Your Browser In/OutIf you have your browser set at higher than 100% ("zooming in"), you may notice some fields or features of Marketplace don't work correctly or aren't visible to you. For example, if you set your browser to 200% size, the Marketplace drop-down menus for Partners, Candidates, Jobs and Splits will stop working - this is true in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Zooming "out" to something less than 200% will restore the menu functionality. |
Resume FormattingAs more members have recently been working with candidates, we are seeing an increase in tech support requests related to difficulty parsing resumes. In almost every instance, the resume in question is full of logos, pictures, tables, or other images. The resume parser can ONLY read text. Resumes that are filled with images will not parse correctly. |
Converting PDFs to WordA fairly common support request we receive at NPAworldwide is regarding PDF resumes that won't upload to Marketplace. If your candidate has embedded images, tables, odd fonts, or other problematic data in the PDF, you'll likely encounter difficulties getting that resume/CV uploaded. You may even have trouble opening the file. As more candidates use mobile devices for their career searches, we think that PDF versions of resumes are likely to increase, since they can easily be stored and opened on a mobile device. |
Recruiter Contact Information and the NPAworldwide Job Board![]() Important reminder to members: If you are posting jobs on the NPAworldwide Job Board, you may NOT include your contact information in ANY of the description fields (What Makes This a Great Job, Job Description, or Qualifications). This would potentially allow a candidate to circumvent the Job Board, meaning NPAworldwide would not receive the required placement fee. |

A PDF file CAN be edited with the correct software, so this is a false assumption by job seekers. |

The Essence of NPA![]() Greetings. As I consider all of the great ideas that came out of 2022 NPA Global Conference last week, it would be easy to write about topics such as; operational best practices, technology and member achievement. In the alternative, I would rather discuss what I feel is the greatest value of in-person meetings: the opportunity to make new friends and to renew old friendships. I must say, I was very much moved by a phrase I heard last week – “The Essence of NPA.” I have never heard the phrase since joining NPA almost 10 years ago. The meaning behind this phrase simply and poignantly defines the true NPA experience. |

The brainchild of Chair-Elect Jim Lyons, this award is now in its third year. (formerly Beck/Eastwood Recruitment Solutions) in Valencia, CA passed away unexpectedly in his home Thursday, August 19, 2021 due to natural causes. Gary was a longtime active NPA member (since 1988), former board member, and SalesNet chair along with many other volunteer positions throughout the years. He will be greatly missed.
